- Apply through the Independent Pathways Program for your certification
Available Certifications
CITE partners with accredited Colleges and Universities to offer these courses for certification through the Independent Pathway program. These courses are online. You must hold initial certification in order to apply for a license extension. *Always check with your local certification office to make sure these courses will satisfy your specific requirements.
Special Education Certification
Students may take 4 non-matriculated courses to meet the education requirements for a certification extension in Special Education through the Individual Evaluation Pathway. This certification extension is available in three grade areas, Early Childhood, Childhood and Adolescent. Click for more information.
TESOL Certification
Students may take the following 4 non-matriculated courses through the University of Mount Saint Vincent to achieve certification in TESOL through the Individual Evaluation Pathway. Click for more information.
School Counseling Permanent Certification
Students may take 4 non-matriculated courses to achieve permanent certification in School Counseling through the Individual Evaluation Pathway. Click for more information.

As with all Individual Evaluation Pathway Courses, students should always contact their district office (Long Island/Westchester schools) or the UFT/NYCDOE Certification Office to verify these courses work with their certification.
